چکیده

In this experiment, we study the antibunching phenomenon in the photons produced by single emitter quantum dots using a Hanbury Brown-Twiss setup. We also measure the single emitter fluorescence lifetime using DiI dye molecules.

Imaging of Single Photon Emitter Fluorescence and Photon Antibunching

In this experiment we demonstrate the Confocal Microscope fluorescence imaging of various single photon emitters like carbon nanotube, quantum dots and color centre in nano-diamonds. We also measure their spectrum to characterize them. Finally we use the Hanbury Brown and Twiss Setup to test if the photons emitted from our source has antibunching properties.

Detection of Single Photon Emission by Hanbury-Brown Twiss Interferometry

We prepare a solution of nano-diamond particles on a glass microscope slide with a target concentration of 1 × 10 M. Using a confocal microscope, we observe photons emitted from the particles via excitation from a pulsed 532 nm solid state laser at 840 μW. A Hanbury Brown and Twiss interferometer is used to probe these photons for evidence of antibunching. At this time, we did not observe antib...

Laboratory 3-4: Confocal Microscope Imaging of Single-Emitter Fluorescence and Photon Antibunching Detection Using a Hanbury Brown & Twiss Setup

This lab had two objectives. First, we wished to image a variety of fluorescing single photon sources using a confocal microscopy setup. Second, we wished to detect photon antibunching using a Hanbury Brown & Twiss setup in at least one of the samples. We were able to successfully image samples of Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes, Nanodiamonds, Gold Nanoparticles, and Colloidal CdSe Quantum Dots,...

Laboratory 3: Confocal Microscopy Imaging of Single Emitter Fluorescence and Hanbury Brown, and Twiss Setup for Photon Antibunching

The purpose of this experiment was to study single photon sources and confirm that they exhibit photon antibunching. The quantum dot fluorescence was imaged using an EM-CCD camera in conjunction with the confocal microscope. CdSeTe quantum dots, which emit at 790nm when excited with a 633nm He-Ne laser, were studied. The quantum dot fluorescence was enhanced using a photonic band gap material a...

Measuring photon antibunching from continuous variable sideband squeezing.

We present a technique for measuring the second-order coherence function g(2)(tau) of light using a Hanbury Brown-Twiss intensity interferometer modified for homodyne detection. The experiment was performed entirely in the continuous-variable regime at the sideband frequency of a bright carrier field. We used the setup to characterize g(2)(tau) for thermal and coherent states and investigated i...
